The ZF 6 Speed's lightweight and mostly aluminum design was manufactured specifically with the Powerstroke engine in mind. It can be found in Ford F250, F350, F450 Super Duty Pickups. The ZF 6 Speed comes in two different models the S6-650 and S6-750. One of its main aims is to improve vehicle fuel economy, and it can achieve an 11% saving compared to the ZF 6-speed transmission and 14% versus modern 5-speed transmissions. 2 3 Due to changes in internal design, the shift times have reduced to 200 milliseconds; additionally, the unit brings the ability to shift in a non-sequential manner. The ZF S6-40 6-speed transmission is lubricated by engine type oil. Manufacturer recommendations specify the use of GM P/N 1052931 (5w-30) or BMW P/N 0 (10w-60) oil. Approximate oil capacity of the ZF S6-40 is 2.2 quarts. FYI - the BMW 10w-60 oil is fully-synthetic and is used in the BMW M5 engine. The ZF-6 presents the classic armor protection of tier IX destroyers. Personal Opinion. Well right now, the ship honestly looks solid. The firepower with the reload booster will be very nice, the torps are the same as those of the high-tier French destroyers but with 8 of them and the concealment is also quite good.

I've Googled, and Searched the forum (but only 1 post, and 'ZF' gets dropped as too short) ~
My 48,000 mile 2004 2.7D Sport manual ZF 6-speed is 'tricky' when cold - reverse gear especially (I have to reverse of the drive before I can go forward).
As soon as it starts to warm up the box is lovely - it's just a bit notchy when cold.
I've read that these ZF manual units are 'sealed for life' - is this true?
1 post here mentions Slick 50 (gearbox?) - is this a realistic option, does anyone have any opinion?
Should I consider changing the gearbox oil? - if so, what with? (brand / spec), and should I consider any additive too?
Or am I being too critical and the box will loosen nicely over time?
Please let's not start an 'autos vs manuals' thread!

The ZF 6HP26/6R60/6R80 6-Speed automatic transmission, manufactured by ZF Getriebe, has found its way into a wide range of vehicles, from BMW’s to Range Rovers, Jaguar’s, Rolls Royce’s, and a wide range of Fords. John the ripper crack sha1 hashes. It is, by most accounts, a great driving experience. Unfortunately, it is not without its share of common faults. Here you will find some of the faults we’ve come across on more than one occasion. See the bottom of the page for a list of vehicles that have this transmission.

Separator Plate / Accumulators

The valve body (hydraulic control unit) in the ZF6HP26/6R60/6R80 automatic transmission is an unfortunate weak point in the design. Inside the valve body are a number of components that wear down relatively quickly. When this happens, drivers may experience a range of problems with the transmission’s shifting, including harsh changes, sliding shifts, and even the triggering of failsafe mode. Plants vs zombies 2 full version for windows 10. To fix this problem, the valve body must be removed from the transmissions, completely stripped down, and the worn components replaced.

Juddering

Zf 6 Speed

Particularly common in Range Rover Sports, the torque converter commonly fails in these transmissions. The only fix is to replace the converter. If a transmission judder is noticed the problem should be addressed as soon as possible, as debris from the torque converter’s internal components can cause severe damage to the rest of the transmission if left.

Transmission Failsafe

If the transmission goes into failsafe and is accompanied by gear ratio codes, particularly 4, 5, or 6 gears, the fault is likely being caused by worn bushes. The fix is to strip down the transmission completely and replace the bushes.

Vehicles Running the ZF6HP26/6R60/6R80 6-Speed Automatic Transmission

This list should be used as a guide only, there may be exceptions (cross-over models, for example) where a vehicle on this list is not running a 6HP26 automatic transmission, and there may be vehicles not on the list that are. Gal gun 2 mods.
