Fleets appear above the home timeline and give you the power to use and interact with Twitter in a whole new way, right in the moment. Fleets allow you to share fleeting or transitory thoughts, and after 24 hours, they’ll disappear from view. Share personal in-the-moment thoughts with your followers free of public reactions. Fleet authors can see who views their Fleets, including accounts with protected Tweets, by clicking into their Fleets and tapping on the Seen By text at the bottom.

  • Fleets appear as circles in the row below the menu icon and above your timeline
  • They don’t get Retweets and are not open to public replies.
  • They can receive hearts or thumbs up.
  • A Fleet can include text, videos, GIFs, Stickers, or photos.
  • People can reply to your Fleet by tapping on Send a Message or the emoji icon at the bottom of your Fleet.
  • If you have open DMs, anyone can react to your Fleets. If you have closed DMs, only people you follow can react to your Fleets.
  • You can choose to turn DMS on or off for any Fleet you post.
  • People with access to Fleets can see your Fleets in two ways:
  • If they follow you, your Fleets will appear in the new bar across the top of their Home timeline.
  • Anyone who can see your Tweets can view your Fleets from your profile by tapping on your profile photo.
  • If you protect your Tweets, your Fleets will also be protected.
  • To delete a Fleet select Delete Fleet and it will remove the post.
  • You can choose to Mute Fleets or Fleets and Tweets by pressing and holding the Fleet icon of the person you wish to mute within the Fleet bar.

Note: When you view someone’s Fleet, the Fleet author will be able to see that you viewed it using the Seen By feature, even if your account has protected Tweets.

Additionally, please note that we maintain a copy of all sent Fleets and live broadcasts in Fleets for a limited time after they expire or are deleted to be able to enforce against Fleets that are found to violate our rules. If a Fleet or a live broadcast was found in violation, we may extend the time we maintain a copy of it to allow people an opportunity to appeal the violation if they believe it was a mistake.

How to sign up or log in with the application

To create a new account:

  1. Launch the Twitter app from your device.
  2. Tap the Sign up button to create a Twitter account.
  3. Choose and enter your username, email, and password.

To log in to an existing Twitter account:

  1. Launch the app and tap Log in.
  2. Enter your username and password.

How to post and delete Tweets and Direct Messages

To post a Tweet:

  1. Tap the Tweet icon
  2. Type your message in the Tweet compose box.
  3. Tap Tweet to post your Tweet.

To attach a photo, GIF, or poll to a Tweet:

  1. Tap the Tweet icon
  2. Tap on the photo icon , the GIF icon , or the poll icon to add a photo, GIF, or poll. You can add up to four images to your Tweets.
  3. Type your message in the Tweet compose box.
  4. Tap Tweet to post your Tweet.

To delete a Tweet:

  1. Tap on the Tweet that you'd like to delete.
  2. Tap the icon
  3. Tap Delete.

To send a Direct Message:

  1. Tap on the envelope icon
  2. Tap the new message icon.
  3. Type in the username of the person you’d like to send the message to, then click their name to select them. You can add more participants to create a group message.
  4. Tap Next.
  5. Type your message in the compose box.
    • Tap the photo icon to add a photo (optional).
    • Tap the GIF icon to add a GIF (optional).
  6. Tap Send to send the message.

How to Bookmark Tweets

  • From a Tweet, tap the share icon and select Add Tweet to Bookmarks.
  • To view your saved Tweets, tap Bookmarks from your profile icon menu.
  • To remove a saved bookmark, tap the share icon from the Tweet within your bookmark timeline and select Remove Tweet from Bookmarks.

How to access the Explore tab

  1. Tap the search icon to navigate to the Explore tab.
  2. Scroll to view trending topics, Moments, suggested content, popular articles, and more.

How to change your profile information

  1. Tap your profile icon to navigate to your profile page.
  2. Tap the Edit profile button.
  3. Make your changes, and tap Save.

How to switch between multiple accounts

It is not possible to toggle between multiple accounts. To log in to a different Twitter account you must log out of the account you are currently logged in to, then log back in to the desired account.

How to search for Tweets and people

  1. Enter a word or username into the search bar.
  2. Press the enter key to search.

Liking, Retweeting and Retweeting with comment

To undo or remove a Retweet:

  1. Find the Tweet you Retweeted (the icon will be green).
  2. Click or tap the Retweet icon to undo the Retweet.

  1. Click or tap the Retweet icon
  2. Tap Quote Tweet.
  3. Enter your comments and press Retweet.
  4. The icon will turn green, confirming that you've Retweeted the Tweet.

How to sign out

  1. Tap your profile icon.
  2. Tap Log out.
