Keyframe automation modes
There are five keyframe automation modes in the Audio Track Mixer that will allow you to add keyframes to audio tracks during playback:
Off – The fader ignores existing keyframes or level adjustments.
Read – The fader follows existing keyframes (this is the default setting).
Latch – The fader follows existing keyframes until you make an adjustment. When you do, new keyframes are added. The fade stays on the last setting you chose.
Touch – The fader follows existing keyframes until you make an adjustment. When you do, new keyframes are added. When you release the fader control, the fader returns to following existing keyframes.
Write – The fader ignores existing keyframes, always adding new keyframes during playback.
Record external audio directly into a sequence
To record external audio directly into the current sequence:
- In the Audio Track Mixer, click the Enable Track For Recording button for the track you would like to record into.
- Choose the audio input in the Track Input Channel menu.
- Click the Record button to enable recording.
- Start playback.
- Stop playback when the recording is complete.
Use track-based audio effects
Add up to five audio effects to each track.
Detailed effect settings can be accessed by double-clicking on the effect name.
Adobe Audition a classic audio editing program which is well designed and the continuance of Cool Edit Pro. For those working with MIDI files, Audition falls a little bit short in terms of features and functionality. It currently lacks support for VSTi instruments.
In terms of real audio editing, Adobe Audition features your typical timeline which supports up to 40 tracks simultaneously. It also includes a mixer, an audio editing environment and as mentioned above, a MIDI sequencer which includes various effects and instruments.
